The GVS requires the generous support of many different stakeholders. Click below to see how you can lend a hand.

Russels Social Club

The Russels is located at Le Grand Courtil in St Martin. It is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Telephone 01481 238055

Both Clubs are staffed by volunteers who provide a warm welcome as well as food and refreshments throughout the day, including a three-course lunch and cakes. The aim is to provide a comfortable meeting place for the older members of the community where they can take pleasure in the company of others, enjoy good food and benefit from the facilities that the Clubs have to offer. Members must generally be over the age of 65 and mobile. There is a small charge for the day which covers all meals and facilities.

The Russels and Jubilee have a hairdressing salon and offer a variety of activities and entertainments.

Members can drive themselves to the Clubs, or they can use the Social Club buses if there is space. We also have teams of volunteer drivers who assist with transport.

If you or someone you know would enjoy attending either the Jubilee Social Club or The Russels Social Club, please contact the Clubs.

Dad loves it!

Dad is 86 and has been attending Jubilee since 2023. He loves it! Initially going once a week, we then increased to twice and it really gives his week a boost with activities and social interactions. The mini bus collects him from the residential home and he really enjoys the relaxed journey there. Particular activities he talks about are group card games, bowling and arts and craft themed things.

Looks forward to it every week

My mother looks forward to going to The Russels every week because she gets to meet and talk to other people. It gives her something to do and gets her out of the house. As soon as I get in from work she tells me about who she has spoken to and what they talked about, and what ever else they have done that day.

Incredibly good value

Mum really loves coming to the Russels three times a week. She is a sociable person and because she lives on her own, when I'm not here it provides essential social contact. She loves games and quizes and enjoys the activities. She benefits a lot from having a good lunch three times a week as she often eats very little when carers prepare a meal. Mum has started having her hair washed once a week, which she thinks is brilliant and so cheap! Thank you so much for providing this excellent service. It’s also incredibly good value.

Live music and dancing

Everyone at Jubilee (and in the office) are fabulous, so welcoming, friendly and they really do go above and beyond their remit to help all the clients.  Mum loves her days at Jubilee, especially the times when there is live music and dancing.  After she was unable to continue to play whist, Jubilee provided a lovely place for her to socialise and keep in touch with friends. As a family we cannot recommend Jubilee and their staff and volunteers enough. Thank you.
