Jubilee Social Club
The Jubilee Social Club at Jubilee House at Grandes Maison Road, St. Sampson is open from 9 am to 3.00 pm Mondays to Fridays. The intention is to provide a comfortable meeting place for the older members of the community, where they can take pleasure in the company of others, enjoy good food and benefit from the facilities that the centre has to offer. Members must generally be over the age of 65 and mobile.
Everyone is greeted and welcomed with coffee/tea and biscuits. A three course lunch is served and, in the afternoon, tea and cake.
Generally volunteer help is required in the following areas at various times during the day to suit volunteers:-
We have various volunteer roles at Jubilee including:-
Morning help in the kitchen reheating cook chill meals, serving tea/coffees and lunch, washing up (dishwasher available). Food arrives at Jubilee pre-cooked and is then reheated (regenerated). Help is needed from approximately 10 or 10.30 am to 1 pm
Meeting and greeting the clients, getting them settled, running a trolley shop for cards and confectionery, generally assisting at the social club. Approximately 9.30 am to noon.
Afternoon tea helpers (always two people on duty). Serve tea and cakes and wash up afterwards (dishwasher available). Generally assisting members before they go home at approximately 3.00 pm. Approximately 1.30 pm / 2 pm to 3.15 pm
Hairdressing - we have a purpose built hair dressing salon where members can have their hair done. Hairdressing qualifications are not necessarily needed – some ladies just want their hair washed and set. Days and times to suit.
Painting nails/hand massage days and times to suit.
This list is not exhaustive and we are always open to suggestions depending on what a volunteer would like to become involved with. We look forward to hearing from you. Please call us on 247518 or e mail on admin@gvs.org.gg
